Johnson Tiles invests in 3 new Durst Gamma XD machines

01 December 2016

Johnson Tiles, a leading British ceramic tile manufacturer and the first in the UK to adopt digital printing technology in 2008, has installed a further three new printers from Durst’s Gamma XD series. These join the other five Durst Gamma systems already in operation at the factory in Tunstall, Stoke-on-Trent.

The latest three machines are equipped with the exclusive DM “Digital Material Printing Technology” capable of producing special effects (high-gloss, matt, white, metallic and adhesive) using modular colour bars which release large quantities of effect ink onto the tile (more than 100 g/m2). For Johnson Tiles, this means greater flexibility in terms of creation and production of tiles of any size, with striking textures and designs created by the tactile sensation of the effect inks.

Johnson Tiles produces floor and wall tiles for the retail, education and housing markets. Some of its most prestigious credits include the London Underground, the Hilton Hawaii hotel and Marks & Spencer stores.
